Kehilat Shalom Hebrew School Teachers


Dori Daus, Principal


Dori is entering her sixth year as Kehilat Shalom Hebrew School's principal. She has a masters degree in Supervision and Administration of Instruction. She has worked as a special educator in the public schools and has 22 years experience in Jewish education. Her goal as Principal is to create a space for parents and children to learn to love being Jewish.

Karen Fridkis, Kindergarten, First and Second Grade


Karen is entering her third year in this position. Her teaching experience includes homeschooling her three children as well as organizing and leading children and teen book clubs, writer's circles, and science and 4H groups. Karen's teaching style incorporates a love of literature with lots of hands on activities and conversations about God, Judaism, and ethics. She is delighted to be working with the K-2 class and is eager to teach the alef-bet, blessings, and prayers, and to explore the world of Judaism with them. One of Karen's favorite fun activities last year was writing the alef-bet with yogurt and pretzels. One of her favorite spiritual activities was listening to her students each week tell the class how they helped to heal the world through acts of loving kindness.

Shari Rothstein 3rd and 4th grade


Shari Rothstein is originally from Huntington, New York. She has been teaching Religious School for over 18 years. During her teaching career she has mainly focused on 3rd grade but has also taught music, tefillah, holidays and Torah. She is a member of NCJW and is on the board of Jewish Federation of Middlesex County. She is an officer of the Anshe Emeth Community Development Corporation, where she spends many volunteer hours collecting and delivering baby equipment to young struggling families of Middlesex County. Shari lives in Kendall Park with her husband Marc and 9th grade twins, Adam & Emily.

Sima Sherman, Hebrew Studies 5th and 6th Grade

Sima has taught at the Kehilat Shalom Hebrew School for 15 years and has taught every subject with excellent results. She is excited to be able to focus on teaching Hebrew Language.

Robynn Mann, Jewish Studies 5th and 6th Grade

Robynn Mann, Jewish Studies 5th and 6th Grade Robynn is in her fourth year teaching at the Kehilat Shalom Hebrew School. Her favorite project last year was the Heroes Art museum. The entire school benefited from the experience. She is excited looking forward to another wonderful year.

Eli Ungar, 7th Grade


Eli Ungar moved to the US in 2003 from Israel where he was born and raised by American parents, whohad made ‘aliya’ in their mid 20’s to start a family in Israel His parents and two younger brothers still live in Ra’anana Israel.

Since 2003, he developed his career in the financial industry and currently works as a Premier Relationship manager for the Largest Bank in the world out of the Livingston, NJ branch.

Eli is married to his Israeli sweetheart, Shirit Ungar, since 2004 and is proud to say that they have always worked side by side toward a successful and happy future together.

Eli became a part of the Belle Mead Congregation in 2006 and grew very attached to the young students and the warm community. He could not resist the offer of teaching the 2008 7th grade Hebrew Sunday School program.

Debbie Grauer, Music


Debbie is a member of Kehilat Shalom. This is her fifth year teaching music here. In the past, she taught music at Anshe Emet in South River, was the music director at Camp Galil, and directed youth group variety shows on Kibbutz Maagan Michael in Israel. Debbie is also active in our community Choir.

Josh Fischman, Cooking

Josh Fischman is our cooking specialist. This will be his fourth year teaching cooking at our Hebrew school. He is a senior at South Brunswick High School. Josh attended Hebrew School at the JCCBM and celebrated his Bar Mitzvah in 2004. He continues to participate in our Hebrew High program. Josh has had a passion for cooking since he was young and is proud to share it with our students. Josh also enjoys computer games, camping, and playing the saxophone. In his spare time he enjoys creating new recipes for family and friends.
